One Of The Best Podcast's I've Ever Listened To

Tom Fletcher - Leading (Is The UN Broken)

I just finished listening to this and am overwhelmed by just how good it was.

I mentioned last year that I was going to keep track of the best show’s I listen to, rather than just sharing The Best Of The Curious Worldview Podcast.

It’s going to be hard to top this one, even when taking into account recency bias, so let’s see how it shakes out.

You would have sensed by now just how big a fan boy I am of Rory Stewart, this fella is just incredible. The UK are taking the piss that they elected BJ over him in 2019, but at his core, Rory is a foreign relations guy. An internationalist. Someone with an informed worldview for why nations work and why they don’t. A delicate sense for cultural complexities and hard economics that inform how and why nations get along and don’t.

So, just the perfect the person to be interviewing Tom, who himself is just so articulate. He doesn’t talk like a politician, he rather speaks like an author, which of course he is, but there was so much compassion and so much consideration for how impossible a task it is getting aid into bad places, and how it’s getting much harder.

PS….

Just another big recommendation since it’s top of mind.

Rick Rubin dropped an old interview with Orson Wells over the weekend. It’s cliche to say, but it listened like a fever dream. It’s not a QnA standard interview, rather something between extemporaneous embellishment and a lesson on story telling and language.

It made me want to watch every interview Orson ever gave. If any of you can dig something up please do send through.
