Podcast Update 'Curious Worldview Podcast'
Forgive the tardiness...
Comrades, I am really sorry for my tardiness in the rate of publishing over the last few weeks.
In short, things are steaming like a bull at Quartr (my job) and therefore although I’m recording episodes, the editing, publishing and promotion are all lagging behind.
As of right now I’ve got a half edited episode I’m super stoked about with John Christensen (who put together the most viral documentary ever created on the problem of opaque money and tax havens - The Spider’s Web). We recorded together at his home in a village outside London, it will be out second Tues in Sep.
Plus I recorded in person with Johan Norberg in Stockholm last week and for this one I was uncharacteristically nervous, but what ended up was genuine feeling of connection that floated to the surface between us - (perhaps you know what I mean? In my opinion, occasionally a podcast has this intangible respect and openness between the interviewer and the interviewed, and on those rare occasions, a podcast really starts delivering on its promise as a fly on the wall observance). But you guys please be the judge, perhaps I’ve completely misread it. Johan is a prolific author and academic, one of the more notable members of the Cato Institute and someone who has recently bronzed in the blinding spotlight of both Javier Milei and Elon Musk. This should be out the week after John.
These are what’s already been recorded, but if I project into September, we’ve got Nat Eliason, Yepoka Yeebo (who I’m super keen for, themes of Kleptocracy, Africa, offshore finance) good stuff, Jack Weatherford again, Norman Ohler again (who was recently on JRE) and then I’m off to London with a full schedule of in person interviews.
So again, I’m sorry I have been sloppy at keeping to a one a week schedule, but bare with me and continue to share with your mates and pump your juice, I’m feeling legit momentum at times with this podcast, and want to maintain and improve on whatever quality has preceded it.
Feel free to reply here to chat, I’m keen to get to know the people listening to the show. It may read as cliche, but it makes my day.
‘Show me the incentive and I’ll show you the outcome’ - Charlie Munger (goat of pithy quotes)
I want to grow this newsletter and I want to grow this podcast. Typically, fellow creators in my position will offer you (my dear reader/listener) some reward whereby, if you refer x amount of people I will send you y reward.
For every 5 people you bring to the newsletter, I’d send you custom merch (or something along these lines)
Now, as you know, I work full time at Quartr which means after a long days work, I am booking, researching, recording, editing and publishing a podcast plus (everything on this newsletter), and therefore only left with a few minutes for everything else that makes up a life.
And as such, setting up some type of rewards program hasn’t eventuated. BUT with that being said, I would nonetheless try to do something to incentivise you to share the show.
For the sake of transparency - about 5000 people follow the podcast across both Spotify & Apple, and several hundred subscribe to this newsletter. Not everyone listens to every episode, but so far in a 4 year lifetime I’m extremely chuffed with every new person - and I notice every. single. new. person…
To get to the point where things are monetised I’d say tripling both of those metrics is necessary.
But for now, all I can offer is camaraderie - if you are reading this now you are, and will remain the most important viewership I will ever get… and this is because you are the early adopters. So all I can do is ask… if you enjoy this and if you know anyone who think might enjoy it as well - share it with them one at a time and share it on your socials to the masses. Follow the podcast wherever you listen to it and subscribe to this newsletter and bare with me, not everything will be directly interesting to you, but I endeavour that some of it definitely will be.
So pump your juice, send this to all your mates - and one day you’ll be able to say you were onto all this ‘Curious Worldview’ stuff from day 1.
