Curious Worldview Podcast
A charismatic mix of cerebral thinking with straight talking
Number Go Up…
Zeke Faux and the definitive crypto book…
Much has been made of Michael Lewis’s ‘Going Infinite’ because of his ridiculous defence of SBF, but as well because, I mean… its Michael Lewis.
However another thing people are making a big deal of is this book by Bloomberg reporter, Zeke Faux, ‘Number Go Up’. It came out a bit before Lewis’s, but tackles the same subject matter and ‘the overwhelming absurdness of crypto’. I recorded a podcast with him just a few days ago. Should be out in the next few weeks.
Extremely keen. I think it was one of my favourite I’ve recorded this year.
This is what I want you to engage with most…
What if I told that you that Credit Suisse, one of the worlds most foundational banks was brought to it’s knees largely because of a charismatic bogan playing posh from Bundaberg…
Lex Greensill roped in figures the likes of (Brexit instigator) David Cameron to Rishi Sunak to even Vision Fund, Uber and WeCrashed Japanese investor, Masoyoshi Son.
The full story of how Lex, the bullied outsider from rural Queensland talked and awkwarded his way into the central halls of power is immense.
Duncan Mavin (investigative journalist) wrote and pieced together the incredible journey, and he documents it top to bottom on this podcast. #153 of ‘The Curious Worldview Podcast’ with Duncan Mavin.
This is a photo worth saving…
This incredible photo was taken by guest and friend of the pod, Ami Vitale. She is an American fine-art, Nat-Geo, naturalist and activist photographer. Her work is innnncreddibleee.
She did a 60 minute reflection of her life and career so far plus what it takes to capture a photo like this.
This is an amazing quote…
And with the context of striving for consistency with this newsletter, forgive the projection…
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit”
