🎉 It’s my birthday today!! On the 25th of October 29 years ago I was brought to life (and I feel old)…

And, in trying to understand why, I feel it all comes down to the expectations you set yourself along the way.

I remember feeling old when the day I turned 19… I had all these expectations for what I was going to have achieved, and where I would be in my life.

That feeling has only compounded as the years have alongside it. At 25, I thought I was going to be all types of more successful than the reality actually was. I know I’m not the only person who feels this way. I think it’s the curse of ambition. If you look out into the world and believe that you can effect it then you will naturally start setting expectations for where you want to be and what you want to achieve.

And ambitions are long tailed… so few of them will ever be realised.

So, yes, while I feel way older than I’d like to be, reminding myself of the above puts everything into perspective.
