I Turn 31 Today!
Curious Worldview Podcast
The best birthday gift you could give is a heartfelt review wherever you listen to the show ❤️
This mark’s almost 5 years since I first published an episode but over 6 since the podcast really began. When it started with my old boss, Davis Cutter, over dinner in his Amsterdam apartment shortly after my 25th birthday, I had no ambition for it to be anything more than that. I sat on that interview for over a year before having the confidence to publish it.
At the time, I had just returned from walking, hitchhiking, bussing and boating between Athens and Merzouga (A Saharan patch in south-east Morocco). And on that trip I would have listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts, a slew of genres. The barriers to podcasting entry seemed non existent, and although the show since hasn’t introduced the money or notoriety promised by the towering shadow of my competition, it has amounted to the most meaningful body of work work I’ve produced in my life, and in all the best ways, made my life richer.
This week I published (although subject to recency bias) what I think is the episode which means the most to me.
Robyn Davidson has lived one of the most mythologised lives in Australian memory. She has been a dream guest of mine since before the podcast began, I listened to ‘Tracks’ whilst in the Saharan desert. We recorded earlier this year in rural Victoria.
So, here’s to 5 years more 🍻… see you around.
Hit me up if your in Sydney.
